Testimonials:
A Taste of Life at Our Communities.

Our residents and their sons and daughters speak.

SQLC properties have a way of attracting folks with high standards:

“The ‘what ifs’ of seniors living alone are forever a concern. The constant worry about household emergencies or personal health emergencies is always in the back of our minds and in the minds of our children. Most of us would rather make the decisions for ourselves while we can than have someone else, such as our children, make them for us.

“This is not an ‘old folk’s’ home. This is independence with safety. For the first time we can travel, take classes, read all the books we had planned to read, play bridge, learn Mah Jongg, paint—you name it. If we are on a trip we don’t have to worry about the house, the sprinkler system, or any of the other ‘what ifs.'”

SQLC Resident Darrell Royal needs no introduction to football fans. As Head Coach at the University of Texas, he's known as "the winningest coach in Longhorn history," and has earned a place in the College Football Hall of Fame. Here's why Coach Royal and his wife Edith love Querencia:

Though my wife, Edith, and I are both retired, we're busy people who enjoy leading active lives. Querencia is the perfect complement to our lifestyleproviding us greater freedom to enjoy the things we love to do and offering new opportunities to grow. But more than anything else, Querencia is a place where we can get away from life's worrieswhere we're able to unwind, relax and truly be ourselves.

I am proud to be a part of shaping a way of life that will truly benefit Austin area seniors and am happy to now call Querencia home. With the most progressive services and amenities, spacious apartment homes, and the guaranteed lifetime protection that life care provides, Querencia will inspire those with a passion to live life to its fullest potential.

We invite you to join us and explore Querencia at Barton Creekyou're sure to discover a personal sanctuary all your own."

Jill Durkee is a speech therapist at a geriatric rehabilitation center. She’s seen first-hand the struggle people face when they suddenly have to find help for a parent who needs care. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case for her in-laws, Bob and Jean Durkee, who moved to Querencia while they were still active.

"Querencia has made my father-in-law ten years younger. He never misses water aerobics. They’re in a book club, they travel, they cook for friends. They love to get up in the morning.

“Bob and Jean love the food so much, on Christmas morning, they opened presents at home with us, then we all drove back to Querencia to enjoy Christmas brunch together. The same thing happened on Mother’s Day!

“Bob and his buddies are in a walking group. If someone misses a day, they chastise each other, "Where were you? In bed?’"They look out for each other.

“They’ve never looked back, never regretted selling their big home. My father-in- law says, ‘Thank goodness I don’t have to worry about that any more."

“But the peace of mind we have, knowing they’ll always be cared for…that’s been their greatest gift to us. We never have to worry about them as they grow older...We thank them for that every day.”
